Pros • Entertaining and down-to-earth.
• Contains useful info on snow survival.
Cons • Only one hunter's tale is included!
The Bottom Line - This book, which is mainly a collection of tales as told by folks who survived the infamous blizzard of 1977, is worth a read, and a lot could be learned about how to survive in very cold weather from the experiences of those people. It covers the experiences of both Canadians and Americans, and includes quite a few photos as well.

Guide Review

Quite a Book
When Erno Rossi contacted me about reviewing this revised edition of his book, I wondered what the heck it had to do with hunting and shooting. His answer was that many hunters are afield in the winter, when blizzards occur, and the book may help teach snow survival.

While it does contain some good info on staying alive in the bitter cold, it's not exactly a hunting book. I read only one hunter's account of survival -- but it's a good one, and you'll never guess how he survived the blizzard.

All in all, it's an interesting book, it has some value as a survival guide of sorts, and I found it entertaining (especially me being a Florida native who's seen snow here twice in almost 33 years). The enormity of that blizzard's effects is staggering.

Read a fellow Guide's story about surviving this blizzard... it's very similar to the stories in the book.
